Sadler's Wells and English National Ballet have come together to present a unique opportunity to see an evening of dance performed by both professional companies and community groups - for the amazing price of just £5.
Ballets Russes – Encounters features English National Ballet's Faun(e), by David Dawson, featured in the 2009 Ballets Russes season. The evening will also include associate artist Russell Maliphant’s Afterlight which was applauded by critics and audiences alike when it premiered at Sadler's Wells as part of In the Spirit of Diaghilev in 2009. Sadler's Wells Resident Company, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, bring a landmark piece of McGregor choreography to the programme, Ossein, created for dancer Antoine Vereecken.
Ballets Russes – Encounters will also feature new work created by the professional companies for five community groups; Sadler's Wells acclaimed residents the Company of Elders, recently celebrated by BBC1's Imagine arts documentary plus Tiffin Boys Youth Dance Company, Barking Abbey School, Copthall School, and Gable Hall School.
The evening includes music specially composed by secondary school students from Chelsea Academy, Holland Park School, Parkwood Hall School and St Thomas More Language College.
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea generously support the students’ music compositions and the presentation of live music in this performance.
